Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management, September 2008

For those of you who are interested in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) market, you'll no doubt want to take a look at the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management, September 2008.

Picking up a project half-way through

It's broadly considered that a project doesn't go wrong, it starts wrong. The majority of causes of project failure (or difficulty) can be specifically related to the amount and quality of time and detail spent in the early stages.

It therefore makes sense that project managers typically desire to be involved from the very start of a project he or she is charged with delivering, in order to both take ownership and assure the successful completion of the project itself. This becomes more and more evident as the scale and complexity of the project increases.

So this begs the question - what sort of project manager would be motivated to pick up a project that's halfway through?

Well, I have half an answer - in that this is just the opportunity that I have recently been offered and gladly welcomed. So I guess I'm the sort of PM that does just this sort of thing. And it's not the first time either.

Project Daze

Welcome to project daze, where I will be sharing my experiences at the forefront of customer focussed project delivery.

Having honed and sharpened my knowledge of projects, organisations and relationships over the past ten years, clawing my way from being an pretty poor project manager to one that is intrinsically 'not too bad' I'm opening this site up to seasoned project professionals, newly ordained project personnel and everyone who fits in between or either side.
